About Us
We regularly tramp in Kahurangi, Abel Tasman, and Nelson Lakes National Parks and the Richmond Ranges. As well, we organise walks in the friendly coastline, estuary and bush precincts in and around Nelson. Further afield, we explore such areas as the Kaikouras, the Raglans, Lewis Pass, and Arthur's Pass. Most of our trips are on tracked routes, but our enterprising trip organisers also devise challenging off-track and camping trips each season.
At our bimonthly clubnights we enjoy exchanging reports of trips and club activities, and frequently have presentations from club members on walking trips to destinations around the globe. Our annual informal photo competition is very popular. Clubnights are at 7.30pm in the Staffroom at Nelson Intermediate School, Tipahi Street. (See Programme for upcoming clubnights.)
We are affiliated with the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand, and our club committee monitors and comments on issues concerning the New Zealand conservation estate and the environment.
This website is intended to provide members with current information about club activities, supplementing the newsletter. It also provides interested people in New Zealand and overseas with a view of the remarkably diverse and rewarding tramping to be had in the Nelson region.
