Day 1: From Lee Valley top forestry carpark. Gentle,scenic ridgewalk to Mt Starveal Hut. (2 hours) Optional afternoon return walk to Mt Starveal (3 hrs) or carry on to overnight at Slaty Hut. (3 hrs). Day 2: Return same route
Very Suitable for those returning to over night tramping or who will enjoy a social time in the stunning Richmond Ranges . Great views, comfy huts. Tents may be required for some.

From the Flora car park, a steady climb to the top of Lodestone. Then a decent to Flora Hut and an easy return to the start over Flora Saddle. 500m climb over 7km. Approx 5hrs.

Okiwi Bay. Up the spur from beyond the jetty on Wharf Road to the summit and return the same route. 4.5km and 400m climb. Good views from the top.

A short walk on the outskirts of Tapawera. This DOC maintained track winds it's way uphill through native bush to an observation point giving spectacular views over Tapawera and the mountains beyond. 2.5hrs approx.

In the Howard Valley off the road between Kawatiri Junction and St Arnaud. A walk up the Louis Creek leads to the historic Booth's Hut. From there a moderate climb on an old bush track continues up to Porika Road for some views. 9km, 500m climb.

See the sun set over the West Coast and the moon rise above Mt Cook. If the weather looks less than perfect an alternative trip will be arranged.
[Note: The transport cost will be less than $94 if we get full vehicles.]
Day 1: Drive, tramp and establish camp just beyond Fox Peak by tarns.
Day 2: Climb Craig Peak and return to camp. [Alternative: Tramp out and travel to the Alpine Club Hut at Fox Glacier township.]
Day 3: Return to vehicles and drive home.

TRIP TO BE CONFIRMED.Part of the NZ Cycleway project, the Old Ghost Road has recently been cleared as far as the new hut on the saddle. Access: Walk up from DOC’s Lyell camp-ground adjacent SH6 on the Buller Gorge. It’s over 17km up to the hut on an excellent track at an easy gradient. This route was once a dray road as far as Eight Mile Creek, then a pack track onward to the saddle. Altitude: 865m. Capacity: 12. Facilities: Water supply, toilet, enclosed wood burner. Time: 4 hours. Note: While not open to the public, the Lyell Backcountry Trust has graciously allowed our club to visit
