DOC Review of Kahurangi National Park

Public submissions are sought on the DOC review (partial) of their Kahurangi National Park Management Plan. There are 5 matters in this review:
 
  1. Mountain biking access
  2. Aircraft access
  3. Hunting access
  4. Guided horse trekking access
  5. Private or commercial accomodation on the Heaphy Track
 
The NTC Committee has discussed this review. It was felt there was a diversity of opinions on details of these matters that could not be accurately captured in the time available. We decided to make submissions on behalf of the club that only express the general need to maintain full access and enjoyment for trampers/walkers to the park, as at present. 
 
Accordingly you are invited also to make a personal submission to DOC before 4pm Friday 4th September. I have one copy of the Management Plan - contact me if you would like to borrow it (Pat Holland 539 1340). The plan also can be viewed on-line and submissions can be made on-line:

There will be public meetings on the review: 
Nelson: Monday 10 August 2009 at 7pm. Venue - Fairfield House ballroom, Trafalgar Street South.

Motueka: Tuesday 11 August 2009 at 7pm. Venue - DOC Area Office, Cnr King Edward and High Streets, Motueka.
